Our Women’s Ministry at LGCC is making every effort to become a purposeful, fruitful, and thriving ministry to our ladies and those who do not attend LGCC. We aim to work in sync with the mission and vision that our church leadership has set before us.  As the women’s ministry facilitator, I want to keep our 4 main values of Loving God and Others, Living Life in Relationship, Giving it Away, and Going to the Lost at the forefront of everything we do, because we want to model the life of Jesus.

In May of 2023, we invited Karen Anderson to speak to our women and teach us about flower arranging just in time for spring. It was a lovely time to reflect on God’s beauty and goodness.

In September, we asked our congregation to supply us with their gently used goods like bikes, toys, books, home décor, and clothing. We partnered with Trinity Grace Church, the Chinese congregation that meets in the historic church building, to put on a large yard sale in the LGCC parking lot. All of the proceeds from that sale went to Feed My Starving Children.

In October, author and women’s speaker, Kristen Wetherell shared about the traps and obstacles that keep us from diving in and feasting on God’s word. She spoke on how to overcome them by freeing ourselves from guilt and shame. She also addressed how our desire for perfection when spending time with Jesus and his living word can oftentimes be the thing that keeps us from this important practice.

In December, we held our annual Christmas Tea and included an ornament exchange to celebrate the Advent season. Our table hosts welcomed over 45 women who were treated to a time of wonderful fellowship and a delightful array of food with plenty of Christmas treats to fill our plates. We were blessed once again by the Lake Zurich Bare Voices choir, who entertained us with their beautiful acapella renditions of well-loved Christmas songs.

2023 proved once again God’s unfailing, relentless, and loving faithfulness to our congregation and especially regarding the women of LGCC. I’m thankful to have a wonderful team of ladies who have hearts to serve, and without them our success would not be possible. Thank you to Marti Buckley, Jo Brenner, and Brynn Ewing for their willingness to serve the women of LGCC.
