It was a big year for the Men’s Ministry! A primary focus of 2023 was to rally the men of the church and begin a consistent cadence of fellowship. The Men’s Ministry is critical for so many reasons. Where men go, their families follow, and it’s so important that men are pointing both themselves and their families to the Lord.

To begin to consistently "Live Life in Relationship" as men of the church, we relaunched a monthly "Men’s Breakfast" at the beginning of the year. Over the course of 2023 we held 8 breakfasts with attendance averaging between 15-25 men. The breakfasts offered an opportunity for our men to get to know one another on a deeper level, have thoughtful conversations about their week, study some scripture, all while enjoying great food!

To expand the theme of "Living Life in Relationship", but to also provide an opportunity to "Reach the Lost", our Men’s Group held several larger connectivity events. These events included axe throwing, a tailgate cookout in the church parking lot, and a chili cookoff. These activities offered a chance to not only have fun together, but also to share an easy invite with a friend or neighbor to come and join an activity at the church.

The Men’s Ministry took the motto of "Give it away" quite literally during the Long Grove festivals. Working in conjunction with the parking ministry, the men of the church set up a grill and gave away free hot dogs, accompanied with LGCC informational cards, to all that passed by the church. Over the course of the Chocolate, Strawberry, and Apple festivals, over 850 hot dogs were given to members of the community, always accompanied with a smile and a friendly conversation about LGCC.

Overall, it was a successful year for the Men’s Ministry! A consistent fellowship rhythm was established that saw increased participation not just from existing church members, but also from new members and guests. We plan to keep the momentum going in 2024 with a focus of deepening our relationships with one another and with God.
