EDGE is our dynamic, energetic and community-based youth ministry for middle school and high school students to explore faith in Jesus Christ and how to fulfill His will for their lives.

EDGE 3E Vision

By the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, we:

  1. Encourage non-believers to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior (John 1:12-13)
  2. Equip new believers with God’s Word (2 Tim. 3:16)
  3. Empower mature believers to take on Christ’s ministry and succeed (1 Cor. 12:12-31, 2 Tim. 2:1-2).

We meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:15pm (on most Sundays, unless we are doing a special ministry or event). We share dinner together, play various team-building games, investigate and apply God's Word, spend time in worship and prayer as well as connecting with one another in small groups. Students have a chance to discover and share who they are---their joys, struggles, hurts, questions and passions. We welcome you to come and do life in Christ with us. Students are invited to come early for various sports and games at 5:30pm. Pizza dinner or something similar is usually at 6:15pm and we strive to finish by 8:15pm. Many students stick around to hang out, play some dodge ball or just connect afterwards.  EDGE is NOT currently meeting on Sunday nights.  We hope to start up again soon.  Please contact Pastor Tony for more information.

Why EDGE? Students at this age are on the EDGE of entering into adulthood. They are also at the precipice of making decisions that will have an eternal and lifelong impact. It is our prayer that they will make that step of faith and embrace the journey God has for them.

In conjunction with VBS, our LGCC Jr. High & Sr. High students will be equipped and encouraged to serve and reach out to others with the love of Christ.  Students will serve at VBS in the morning and then spend the afternoon serving together and growing together in relationships with others and with Christ.  Activities may include visiting nursing homes, serving at food pantries and FMSC, doing fun stuff like a locked room together and praying for others at the local mall.  Most days will end before dinner and students entering 7th grade through 12th grade are all welcome.

Youth Worship Band

On select Sunday evenings our musical students gather together for dinner, fellowship, rehearse and participate in jam sessions.  Once a month or so they lead worship on Sunday mornings.  If you would like to be part of this –whether it be singing, helping with sound/tech or playing an instrument in the band—see Bradley or our Worship Arts Director Luke Merwin or email our Pastor of Spiritual Growth and Community Life using this email link - Pastor Tony West.

Emmaus House

Students meet several times a year at St. Francis Church in Lake Zurich @ 4:30 p.m. to serve a meal and ice cream to the under-resourced.  There will be a time to play with the children and to talk and pray for the people who come to this dinner.  Students are also encouraged to use their gifts in music and drama as well.  We meet from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  This year we will be serving on Sunday's March 22nd, September 16th and December 13th.  If you have any questions or if your student needs a ride or if you can help with transportation please contact Pastor Tony using the email link above.

Equip Sundays

Twice a month, our students will have an opportunity to be equipped to think biblically and live out the Word of God in their daily lives. These classes for the 6th-12th graders are interactive and will focus on relevant topics that students are dealing with in regards to their faith. These classes will meet at 10:25am during the Worship Service in either the Chapel Reception room or the Community House. Donuts or bagels are often included. On other Sundays we seek to equip our students to listen to and apply the sermon with the adults in the Worship service and at least one Sunday a month many of our students serve in the Children's Ministry or with Worship Arts.

S.O.S. Ministry

S.O.S. (Service Over Self) is a way we minister to the homeless in Chicago. This ministry which feeds, clothes & ministers to homeless men & women on the streets of Chicago at a shelter is now expanding to include youth and adults from our church. Needed items that we hand out are Bibles, new underwear and new socks. If you would like more information, to donate food or to join our ministry please contact Pastor Tony via the email link above.
