Thank you for joining us as we celebrate the life of Carole Stevens.

We apologize for the technical difficulties this morning.  We will share a private link of the recording we have with Ron and the family.

In Memory of

Carole Stevens

November 13, 1966-September 17, 2021

Carole Stevens was born on November 13, 1966 in Aberdeen, Scotland to Dennis and Alison (nee Gordon) Wood. She died peacefully on September 17, 2021 at Northwest Memorial Hospital after a courageous 2 year battle against Multiple Myeloma. A fighter till the end, Carole embraced her fight with determination, courage, and positivity (as evidenced by the yellow smiley faces that greeted visitors and hospital staff alike).

Carole was a best friend to everyone she met and her trademark smile was known by all in her 3 primary countries of residence throughout her life - Scotland, England and the US. While she loved her adopted country of the US, where the family and her have resided for over 21 years, her heart remained in Scotland. A bonnie lass that you’d ever met, her brogue continued to confuse cashiers and make loved ones smile until she passed.

Carole was an avid lover of flowers and in her early 20s took up arranging flowers and never looked back. In true Carole fashion, she undertook an entire job of wedding flowers for a dear Scottish friend that was the start of many late nights, but personal triumphs. Her passion continued through the years as she assisted alongside her dear friend on numerous weddings and events. Long Grove Community Church was the recipient of her talents for many years up until she fell ill.

In addition to her talents with flowers, Carole was a qualified Cartographer - spending her early career in Scotland drawing maps of the seabed for BP’s oil exploration. On moving to England, Carole was part of the team that digitized the World Atlas for a renowned publisher and later moved onto digitize airfields for aircraft simulators. It was while testing her work that she experienced morning sickness for the first time with her first pregnancy.

Moving to the US in 2000, Carole became a devoted full-time mother while enhancing her skills in dress making, lunch preparation and crafts. Carole was a regular at class bake sales, Halloween parties and after school activities. She also played the role of dance mum and swim mum! It was during this time she found her passion to teach the Little Lambs Sunday School at Long Grove that remained one of her most satisfying achievements over her 54 years.

Carole is survived by her husband Ron Stevens; her daughters Emma Jayne and Jennifer Grace; her sister in laws Pam and Mags, her brother in law Andrew, mother in law Barrie and by her mother Alison. Many uncles, aunts and cousins remain close in Scotland and England as well as her step family on Ron’s side in the US.

Carole is preceded in death by her father Dennis Wood.
